The Horse Program:
You can lead a horse to water but can you lead a wrangler to Alaska?

In a way it's the horses who put the "Ranch" in Echo Ranch Bible Camp. Without the horses we would be Echo Bible Camp and after all these years that just doesn't seem right. Across the country horses are used as a therapeutic method to reach kids with a variety of needs. What about spiritual needs? Yes.

The horses at Echo Ranch help to create the peaceful environment that allows kids to be open to the gospel. When a young child meets a horse for the first time they instantly form a bond with the animal. Many of the campers who come to Echo Ranch take ownership of a particular horse and look forward to the next trail ride. There are many elements that go into a child's salvation and the horses at Echo Ranch are certainly a part of it for many of the campers.

Over the years the horse program has grown and developed into what it is today. Echo Ranch offers trail rides for both campers and retreat groups. Horsemanship classes are often taught during Bronco Camp ages 10-11. With the completion of our Horse Camp property in 2006, we offer special camps dedicated to horsemanship skills. All of these blessings have not been received without some hardship. In April of 2006 our original horse barn was destroyed by fire in the early hours of the morning. It was through much prayer and the help of God's people that today we have a brand new horse barn and brand new equipement for the horses. God has blessed the horse program at Echo Ranch and we are thankful.

And now we are asking for your help again. We need wranglers to come and serve at Echo Ranch Bible Camp in 2009. There are 25 horses that need the attention of willing Christian volunteers. If you have a heart for horses God can use that desire to help spread the gospel in Southeast Alaska. You can even bring your own saddle. Ideally, we would like it if you spent the whole summer with us but any amount of time would be helpful. Perhaps you know someone who loves horses and would love the adventure of Alaska, would you put them in contact with us? Either way, we would appreciate your prayers as you think about the horse program ministry at Echo Ranch Bible Camp.
