The Echo Ranch Connection

There is a God given desire in all human beings for community. Right from the beginning God said to Adam that it was not good for him to be alone. Starting with friendships to marriages to families to villages to towns to cities (you get the idea) there are people reaching out and depending on one another. What makes this desire for community so amazing is that it can happen even with a group of strangers. Once there is a common bond, a shared understanding, suddenly relationship and togetherness form a lasting connection. Echo Ranch Bible Camp has been a catalyst for community since 1964. And now with resources like the Internet, Echo Ranch alumni can seek out their friends and catch up on old times. read more

Echo Ranch needs volunteers

What are you doing next summer? It’s probably a little early to be asking but May is going to be here before we know it. Echo Ranch Bible Camp relies upon volunteers to make things happen. We believe it is God working through people that helps to keep camp running. You could be one of those people. The camp always has needs but sometimes we don’t get the word out and sometimes I think people are afraid to ask. The first step is being willing to offer whatever talent or skill you might have and set aside the time and resources to be at Echo Ranch. read more

Escape the Ordinary

Buy a plane ticket, pack your things, say goodbye to your family, friends, church, summer job, and say hello to a summer in Alaska (without pay). Sound a little crazy? I suppose to some it might be. It certainly isn’t the normal way of things for most people. But that’s the point, it’s not normal, it’s not the ordinary summer you might be expecting. There is an element of risk, an element of faith to serve at Echo Ranch Bible Camp. read more

Refuge from the storm
When a child comes to Echo Ranch Bible Camp I want to know that her life has been influenced by God in some way. I long to hear the stories of God’s transforming power in the lives of young people and their families. We cover our ministry in prayer, but questions still remain: What happens when they leave camp? Is God still at work when they’re back at home? How is God at work during our retreat season? Is serving food and cleaning up after people sharing the gospel? Then I encounter stories like that of the Edwards family.  God used Echo Ranch as a place of refuge for their family during a very turbulent time last summer. read more

A week of camp is a time to let go

Our kids are living under tremendous pressure. If the stress only came from what kind of bike to ride or whether or not to sleep in on Saturday it wouldn’t be so bad. But it’s a little more complicated than that. The constant burden of juggling family, friends, and an education can be very overwhelming. Part of growing up is learning how to manage the various demands put on our lives but when is there time to just to be young? Echo Ranch tends to become the place where a lot of kids find themselves with the freedom to let go. read more

Aidan Neary and Echo Ranch

How do you respond to the death of a person you hardly knew? Sure, you may have crossed paths once or twice or maybe exchanged a few words in passing, but you never really got know the individual.

I suggest going to the people closest to them and asking questions. You might be surprised at how much you had in common. It turns out that Aidan Neary and Echo Ranch Bible Camp had some history together, and I believe that is a story worth telling. Read about it

Multimedia Project

The message of the gospel will never change and Echo Ranch will do it’s very best to present the good news every summer.

For some of the campers Echo Ranch is their only exposure to the gospel for the entire year. They just don’t have the support group at home that encourages real spiritual growth. And now onto the project…

Light the Fire

One of my favorite things about Echo Ranch is sitting around the campfire. Something happens when people get around the fire, they open up and at the same time they become very reflective.  read more

She Must Be Told About the Love of Jesus

It is a fact that each summer more girls attend Echo Ranch Bible Camp than boys. It has always been this way. Perhaps it’s the draw of the horses or maybe it’s that girls are better at inviting their friends. Whatever the reason; the large number of girl campers means that Echo Ranch has a great need for female counselors. read more

The Benefit of a Broken Heart

Why does Echo Ranch exist? Why would counselors and staff give up their time and talents to spend 3-6 months in Southeast Alaska? There is only one reason and that is the gospel of Jesus Christ. read more

The Horse Program

In a way it's the horses who put the "Ranch" in Echo Ranch Bible Camp. Without the horses we would be Echo Bible Camp and after all these years that just doesn't seem right.

Across the country horses are used as a therapeutic method to reach kids with a variety of needs. What about spiritual needs? Yes. read more

Faith and Fun Combine Forces at Echo Ranch Bible Camp

Salvation is serious business. But that doesn’t mean you can’t smile while sharing the gospel. At Echo Ranch Bible Camp we try to create a fun environment where learning about Christ is an enjoyable experience.

The important thing is to find a balance between entertainment and conveying biblical truth. We want kids to have fun at camp but we also want them to leave with something more. read more
